After the game was released, Valve updated it with a 64-bit mode (i.e. Half-Life 2 was a 32-bit program, they had a compatability layer built in for 64-bit machines. They actually removed the game from people's computers? I also remember seeing Doom a little later and thinking, "What a ripoff of 'Dark Forces'". There's nothing keeping you from copying the game out of your steamapps folder and dropping it on an appropriately configured VM and trying the game out there. That being said, either way, these republishings are welcome. But as a result, they'll never get some of the titles that are on Steam, simply because it's no longer feasible for the developer to do this. GOG is different in that they actually work with the developer to 'update' the game sufficiently that it will work on a modern computer. But just as often, the developer is just looking for a way to shovel out some of their old crap that sometimes they don't even have a working copy of the code for.
Developers that actually give two pence about their rep will actually be responsive to these issues and attempt to fix them. We have a few players playing on gc controllers on the switch and they are fine with not being able to assign some buttons, itll come down to which buttons youb want to prioritize first.Steam with old games is a crapshoot, not because they don't care, but because they are the publisher and not the developer of most of these games and thus don't actually have anything they can do about most of the problems. The last thing youll have space for is either alt fire or force use on right bumper, you can put that on left stick click as thats my alt, but when saber fighting I sometimes click alt fire on accident which is not problem in duel but outside of duel it throws a saber.Ĭhallenge to duel can be a face button, taunt a dpad, force powers on face buttons. Then I have saber stance on left trigger but that can be placed on right stick click because I swap saber stances all the time. I have mine left bumper for jump and right stick click for crouch because thats what im used to but crouching with right stick makes it hard to fan and turn while crouching, its doable but it takes extra time to get used to. Most console players have jump on the left bumper And crouch on left trigger but thats up to you. So for the long run the top 2 things to avoid putting on face buttons are jump and crouch, youre going to want to be able to jump or crouch without moving your thumb from the aiming stick, this way youll have that same benefit the kb+m gets from aiming uninterrupted. Hmm I havent played controller on pc but I do play on the switch.
